The Kakching Khunou Educational Forum (KKEF) held its 3rd Annual Literary Meet with great fanfare on Sunday, the 20th of October, 2019 at Chekshapat Mandop. Students turned up in large numbers and participated in competitions with great zeal and excitement. Schools from every corner of Kakching Khunou enthusiastically participated in this meet.

Smt. Ng. Sakhi Devi, Head Mistress, Kakching Khunou Govt. High School graced the function as Chief Guest and Dr. Kh Robindro Singh, General Secretary, KKEF presided over the function. The highlight of the evening was the presence of Dr. Dhanabir Laishram, Social scientist as a special invitee.

Competitions:

To promote the competitive spirit and to bring out the talent of the students, the following competitions were held in the meet:

  1. Mathematics Competition ( Class III –X)
  2. Science Competition (Class IX & X)
  3. Handwriting Competition (Class III-VIII)
  4. Spelling Competition (Class III-X)
  5. Extempore Speech (Open)
  6. Debate (Open)
  7. Quiz (up to Class X)

The Mathematics and Science competitions were held at 4 different venues as an overwhelmingly large number of students arrived for the competitions.

A sizable number of students took part in the handwriting and spelling competitions too.

In the extempore speech, participants were asked to speak on a topic on spot for 2 minutes. They were allowed to choose from three different topics. This event gave them a platform to showcase their astuteness.

Later, 20 students took part in the debating competition. The topic for the event was “Inkhatlakliba naharolsingna Nisha gi ipakta luplaklibase Mama Mapa oibasing gi mityeng wangma lankhibadeini”.  The seat of the speaker was adorned by Sri Ksh. Biren Singh, Asst. Prof., Kakching Khunou College. Some of the competitors displayed exemplary orating skills. At the end of the debate, the Speaker also gave his input and this added a new aspect to this event.

6 schools participated in the Quiz competition. It was a keenly contested event and every point scored was received with deafening applause from the audience.

Formal Function:

The Formal function commenced late in the afternoon with the welcoming of the guests by K. Ashutosh Sharma, KKEF. In his brief speech, Mr. Sharma spoke about KKEF’s aims & objectives and its functions.

Dr. Dhanbir appealed to the parents to deal with their children with love and care. He also advised the students to speak wisely and carefully, to utilize time judiciously and to remain healthy. The audience remained glued to their seats as he delivered his short but captivating speech.

In the presidential speech, Dr. Robindro highlights the importance of competitiveness among the students. He also thanked them for their active participation and urge them to take part in such competitions in the future too.

Kh. Bijenti Chanu, Member KKEF, in her Vote of Thanks speech, thanked the guests, students, parents and the volunteers of KKEF for making the event a grand success. Thus, the momentous day concluded on a very happy note with a smile on every face and happiness in every heart.
