We are delighted to learn that Shri Bishwajit Khumukcham, son of Khumukcham Ibodhem and Sarangthem Thaba of Kakching Khunou Hijam Sana Khongnang Leikai has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph D) in English by the Manipur University for his thesis entitled – “A study on the problems of learning English faced by the Burmese speakers of Shan State of Myanmar”. He conducted his research work under the supervision of Prof. Irom Gambhir Singh, Head of Department, English and cultural studies, Manipur University. During the research work he has published articles in National Seminars, International Conferences, Journals, Proceedings and books.
Earlier, he completed his MPhil from Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi on “Social realism in Thangjam Ibopishak’s poetry” and qualified the UGC NET-JRF in 2013. He is currently a guest faculty at National Sports University, Khuman Lampak, Imphal and has previously taught at SAIRAM, Langjing Achouba and DM University, Imphal.
He is the eldest among four siblings (three brothers and one sister) and currently resides with his parents at Bamol Leikai, Imphal East.
