
Heartiest congratulations to Jackson Khumukcham S/O Shri Khumukcham Chittaranjan (Lukhoi) Singh and Smt. Huirem Brajalata Devi of Kakching Khunou Thingnam Tarung Leikai (now resides in Yaiskul Janmasthan, Imphal) on being awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree in Social Work by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai for the thesis entitled “Understanding Indigenous Entrepreneurship: An Ethnographic Inquiry”. He conducted his research under the supervision of Prof. Satyajit Mazumdar of TISS.
He is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at the Madras School of Social Work in Chennai. From 2018 to 2020, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Human Development (MGAHD), Nagaland (a joint venture of TISS Mumbai and Nagaland Gandhi Ashram).
He went to Shree Digambar Jain Mahavir Higher Secondary School and C.C. Hr, Sec. School in Imphal for his class X (2004) and XII (2006) and earned his BSW (2009) and MSW (2011) degrees from Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan, West Bengal. Prior to starting his Ph.D., he earned his M.Phil in 2014 from TISS in Mumbai.
Jackson is also a trained Nat Sankritan professional and a recipient of Bal Bhawan New Delhi’s “Mellenium’s National Balshree Honour, 2000” award in the field of Creative Performing Arts. He is also a Dalai Lama Fellow -International.
