
Congratulations to Parshuram Thingnam on winning the “Sahitya Akademy Yuva Puraskar 2023” in Manipuri for his poetry book “Matamgi Sheireng 37.”
The Yuva Puraskar honours books published by authors aged 35 and under in 22 different languages every year Since 2011. The Puraskar includes a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and an engraved copper plaque.
He had previously published two books, “Meegi Machu” in 2004 and “Ei amasung Eigi Ima” in 2011. For the book “Ei amasung Eigi Ima” he is a recipient of the following awards:
- 1st Arambam Ibungohal and Binodkumari Literary Award (2012) from Patriotic Writers’ Forum
- 1st Lairenlakpam Dharambir Literary Award (Young Creative Writer 2014) from Cultural Forum, Manipur,
- Thokchom Yogendra Memorial Cash Award (2014) from Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti
Parshuram was born in Kakching Khunou Awang Keithel Leikai as the second son of Thingnam Tomba Singh and Khumukcham Tombi Devi. He has a master’s degree in English literature from the University of Delhi.
